Obstacle Race Panama

A competitive community. A sustainability campaign. A registration flow that had to work on a phone, in the field, under time pressure.

El Problema

Obstacle Race Panama is a product of Panama Sports Magazine, serving the country’s competitive obstacle-racing community. The engagement had two halves most agencies would split across two vendors: a sustainability campaign requiring creative direction, and a registration product requiring engineering.

Those halves fail differently. A campaign fails quietly, by not being remembered. A registration flow fails loudly, against a deadline that does not move.

What this category consistently gets wrong:

El Costo

An event business has a deadline that does not move. Unlike a service business where a lost lead can return next quarter, a registration not completed before race day is revenue that permanently does not exist.

That makes registration friction unusually expensive here — the cost is not deferred, it is destroyed.

And a campaign that drives attention into a flow that leaks is worse than no campaign: it spends creative budget filling a bucket with a hole in it.

La Intervención

Creative direction as one system with the product. The sustainability campaign’s visual and editorial position carried through into the registration experience rather than stopping at brand material.

A registration flow built for the real conditions of use — phone, field, time pressure — with the minimum number of steps between intent and confirmed entry.

Four steps from intent to confirmed entry. Every removed step is an entry that survives.

Web development and infrastructure on the standard stack: fast deploy, minimal dependencies, security headers and Ley 81 compliance by default.

El Resultado

The campaign and the product are one system. Attention generated by the sustainability position lands in a registration flow built to the same standard and the same voice — so the creative investment converts into confirmed entries rather than into traffic that arrives and leaves.

The full case for treating event registration as a conversion product rather than a form is developed in The Architecture newsletter.
